Islamic Civilization | Distinctions of Islamic Civilization | Salient Features of Islamic Civilization
Islam was designed to become a global religion and to create a civilization which would spread from one end of the world to the other. Already during the early Muslim caliphates, first the Arabs, then the Persians and later the Turks set about to create classical Islamic civilization. Later, in the 13th century, both Africa and India became great centers of Islamic civilization and soon thereafter Muslim kingdoms were established in the Malay-Indonesian region while Chinese Muslims flourished throughout China. Following are the distinctive feature of Islamic Civilization.
Oneness of God (Toheed):
The belief that the “God is one” and there is no other God for worship, is the core of Islamic Civilization. There is no room for any other person/thing, in this belief, to be worshiped but God and none is comparable to him. Contrarily the Hindus and Christians believe in either three or more Gods. This belief of Non-Muslims disturbs the mental satisfaction for sure. Since having more than one God always confuses which God to worship first and which God to pray, this causes mental ailment.
“The God is one, He is Eternal” (Al Quran)
Dignity of Man:
The Islamic Civilization bestows dignity to mankind, it teaches to live with dignity and not to bow before anyone but God. However in other religions like Hinduism, people are forced to bow down before man-made gods. The Islamic Civilization considers the Human being superior than all the other creatures/species and called it “Ashraf-ul-Makhloqaat (The Most Superior Creature)”.
Equality:
Equality is another important and integral element of Islamic Civilization. Islam treats each and every Muslim equally without any discrimination on the basis of demographic, geographic or socio-economic values.
“O people! For sure, I begot you from one man and woman, and then made up your groups and castes so that you could recognize each other, undoubtedly among you the most respectable for God is one who is the most devout”. (Al Quran)
“None of the white has superiority over the black and none of the black has superiority over the white, none of the Arabic has superiority over Ajmi, and none of the Ajmi has superiority over Arabic but on the scale of Devoutness” (Hadith)
Balanced Life:
The balance in all the aspects of life is another integral element of Islamic civilization. Islamic civilization focuses on simplicity which makes the life easier and prosper for sure. Opting simplicity causes number of benefits in our life; it restrains us from profligacy, enhances the level of savings for the rainy days, and helps social development.
Accountability:
Accountability is another aspect of Islamic Civilization which gives a sense of answerability for what we’ve done. This sense restrains the man from evil deeds (sins) and encourages him to go for good deeds. Human are accountable for their conducts here in the world and hereafter at the Day of Judgment. Certain misconducts would be punishable within world by the state/government which falls under Islamic Sharia Law under the head of “hadood” e.g. Theft, Robbery, Illegitimate Intercourse, False Accusation, Alcohol consumption, Terrorism and Apostate. However, other misconducts lead us to hell.
Universal Brotherhood:
Universal brotherhood is another vital aspect of Islamic Civilization. This is the spirit that makes the bond between all the Muslims around the world. “Undoubtedly, All Muslims are brother” (Al Quran). This is the reason whenever Kashmiri and Palestine Muslims surfer pain, rest of the Muslim community feels the pain too and raises its voice for justice and sympathy.
Human Rights:
Islam is deeply focused on Human Rights. It is concerned to secure the right of every single human being. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) has described human rights very clearly; he even emphasized on the rights of slaves and women, since the women were not protected and were not given rights before Islam.
Moral Values:
